Breaking News: Minnesota Vikings Announce Suspension of Star Wide Receiver Justin Jefferson
Minneapolis, MN – The Minnesota Vikings announced today the suspension of star wide receiver Justin Jefferson for two games, effective immediately.
Vikings’ Head Coach, Kevin O’Connell, confirmed the suspension, stating, “Justin understands the consequences of his actions. We support him, but accountability matters.”
The suspension stems from Jefferson’s altercation with an opponent during last Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. Jefferson was ejected in the fourth quarter after exchanging words with Packers’ cornerback, Jaire Alexander.
“This decision wasn’t taken lightly,” said Vikings’ General Manager, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. “Justin’s behavior was unacceptable.”
Jefferson, a 3-time Pro Bowl selection and 2-time Second-Team All-Pro, has been instrumental to the Vikings’ offense this season, recording 40 receptions for 561 yards and 5 touchdowns.
“Justin’s absence will be felt,” said Vikings’ quarterback, Kirk Cousins. “We’ll rally around our teammates.”
The Vikings (4-2) face the Chicago Bears (3-3) on Sunday, followed by a matchup against the Detroit Lions (2-4).
Reactions:
– NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell: “The Vikings made the right decision. Player conduct is paramount.”
– Packers’ Head Coach, Matt LaFleur: “Emotions run high, but respect for opponents is essential.”
Suspension Details:
– Two-game suspension without pay
– Effective immediately (Games 7-8)
– Jefferson eligible to return November 7th
